To make the pills — the first step is to combine all of the components. These substances are the active ingredient, the magical ingredient that makes the pill work, and other components known as binding agents and fillers. These binding agents allow the pill to hold itself and fill fillers to give the pill adequate size and shape. So be sure to mix everything well because the key here is that this will help disperse the active ingredient throughout the pill. This step is extremely important as some pills will work better than others if the ingredients are not mixed correctly.
Following the mixing of ingredients, we further need to pour water onto it. Taking care to add only as little water as needed. If we add an excess of water, the material will be too wet and sloppy to form into pills. However, if we put less water, the mixture will be dry and crumbly. This step aims to only add enough water for the mixture to become tacky enough that it forms into little bits known as granules. It is crucial that this stickiness exist for the next steps of pill formation.
After adding the required amount of water, we proceed to wet granulation. At this stage we re-blend the whole lot to form small lumps known as granules. And these granules are tiny bits that we will use to create the pills. Wet granulation guarantees that the mixture is perfectly mixed and can be pressed later into pills. This part is so cool because you are actually creating new shit!
Then, we have to dry the wet granules that we made. Drying is a crucial process as it eliminates the excess water from the granules. If we do not dry them, they will be too moist to make pillsAvec des feuilles à piluler. Typically, we put this substance into an oven to dry out the granules whereupon this baking process renders them hard. When dry, the granules are robust and can be compressed into pills. This step is sort of like baking cookies, we need to get it right before proceeding!
Last but not the least, we reached updated last planet of ultra fine aggregate procedure; compression. This step involves pressing the granules – now dry – into a pill form. We have a special equipment known as tablet press for this, which brings ease and increase the speed of operation. Once the granules are compacted in pellet form, we add a coating over that pill. That coating is used to make it more palatable, protect the pill from moisture, and for aesthetic purposes. Its like icing on the cake!
Wet granulation plays a critical role in tablet manufacturing, yet it is a time-consuming and expensive process. And if we want to improve the process and efficiency, then there are high-quality ingredients that needs to be combined. Keeping the water added under check is also important so that we get the right consistency of mix. Not to mention ensuring the steps of drying and pressing, as this will determine how much power the part can obtain. Machines can also speed up and lower the cost of processing, which is an advantage for everyone.
Methods of pill making include, wet granulation, dry granulation and direct compression. While each of these methods has their own strengths and weaknesses, the choice ultimately depends on the requirements unique to a given pill. When this is not possible, yet one wants a robust pill which has lower tendency to break or crack, then wet granulation is frequently employed to address the per issue of compressibility with active ingredient. It is commonly used when the active ingredient is heat and moisture sensitive, as well as for an active ingredient that one wants to be released slower than other parts of a mixture. Direct compression is primarily employed when the API shows easy compressibility and a rapid release of the API is desirable.
